📰 About Us

The Ocean State Chronicle™ exists to pursue the truth with transparency, rigor, and a commitment to public accountability. We report on power, examine public institutions, and investigate matters of civic consequence because an informed public is essential to a functioning society.

We are an independent, not-for-profit newsroom based in Rhode Island. Our reporting focuses on local governance, education, ethics, and fiscal accountability through fact-based, mission-driven journalism. While our coverage is rooted locally, the principles that guide our work—evidence, transparency, and accountability—are universal.

We do not claim perfect neutrality. In a media environment where even decisions about what to cover are treated as political, we acknowledge the weight of editorial judgment. What we do commit to is this: our reporting is driven by verifiable facts, documented evidence, and on-the-record sources—not agendas. We ask hard questions, follow the record, and publish what is relevant to the public interest, regardless of convenience or pressure.

🏛 Why We Exist

The Ocean State Chronicle™ was founded to fill a gap. Too often, important local stories are ignored, softened, or reduced to surface-level coverage. Our purpose is to document and scrutinize the actions of those who exercise public power and to preserve that record for public examination.

Though the Chronicle began as a one-person operation, it was built on values that scale: honesty, independence, and public service. We do not chase consensus or popularity. We pursue clarity, evidence, and truth.

“You can’t fix what you can’t see. We’re here to turn on the lights.”

At the Ocean State Chronicle™, we are committed to independent journalism that examines public power, documents civic actions, and holds institutions accountable. Our reporting is governed by formal Editorial Standards and a Code of Ethics designed to ensure accuracy, fairness, and integrity in every story we publish.

We practice fact-based, investigative reporting in service of the public interest. Our work is grounded in rigorous fact-checking, source verification, and transparent attribution. Editorial decisions are made independently and are not influenced by political affiliation, financial interests, or commercial pressure.

Our standards require that factual errors be corrected openly, sources be handled responsibly, and coverage remain fair and evidence-driven. We reject sensationalism and performative outrage in favor of careful documentation, contextual clarity, and reporting that withstands scrutiny.

The Ocean State Chronicle™ exists to make public actions visible and verifiable. We focus on uncovering information that materially affects the community, preserving the public record, and presenting documented evidence so readers can evaluate the facts directly.

Hi, I’m Caleb Minson, editor and founder of the Ocean State Chronicle™. I am a credentialed investigative journalist with the United States Press Agency (USPA), and my work is grounded in transparent, evidence-based reporting focused on matters of public importance.

In today’s media environment, even decisions about what to cover can introduce bias. My approach is to acknowledge that reality while holding factual claims to documented evidence, verifiable sources, and clear attribution. The goal is not to advance an agenda, but to present an accurate public record of events and decisions that shape Rhode Island.

The Ocean State Chronicle™ was created to support informed civic engagement through disciplined reporting, open documentation, and accountability-driven journalism. I aim to build a platform that values truth, encourages substantive public dialogue, and serves readers with clarity, integrity, and independence.

The Ocean State Chronicle™ exists to document, explain, and preserve the public record of local governance and civic power.

This project is grounded in evidence-based journalism: public records, recorded proceedings, firsthand observation, and on-the-record attribution. Its purpose is not to persuade, advocate, or speculate, but to make public actions visible, verifiable, and durable.

The Chronicle operates independently of political parties, elected officials, advertisers, and outside organizations. Editorial judgment rests solely with the Editor-in-Chief and is governed by formal standards, documented procedures, and transparent accountability practices.

Where errors occur, they are corrected openly and permanently. Where records are incomplete or access is restricted, that limitation is disclosed. Silence, ambiguity, or procedural opacity by public institutions does not remove the obligation to document what can be verified.

This website serves as the authoritative written archive of The Chronicle’s reporting. Video, documents, and source materials are linked where relevant to allow readers to examine the record directly.

Public power requires public visibility.
That principle governs this work.
